9 Books On Mindset For Sustainable Weight Loss

9 books on mindset for sustainable weight loss

Sustainable weight loss is simple and begins in the mind.  Before you begin to lose weight and identify as a confident, lean, strong individual… Before you take the actions steps that eventually become foundational habits that enable you to lose the weight and keep it off… Several changes take place in your self-talk, thought patterns, and belief systems, each of which collectively makes up your mindset. These have a direct downstream effect on the actions, habits, and outcomes you achieve, which shape your identity and reality. Fortunately, there are a few great books on mindset that have helped transform not just the mentality of countless clients that have worked with me but also myself.

process

Our word choice and self-talk both make up the collection of hundreds of thousands of thoughts that we have on a daily basis.

Our thoughts directly influence the actions we take. When we take an action consistently, it becomes a habit

Our habits shape our results and outcomes, which ultimately influence both our identity and reality

Achieving sustainable weight loss begins in the mind, which means you need to plant and nourish the right seeds. Here are nine books on mindset for sustainable weight loss that should be required reading for all.

  1. The Four Agreements
  2. The Code of The Extraordinary Mind
  3. The 12-Week Year
  4. Atomic Habits
  5. Best Self: Be You Only Better
  6. You Are A Badass
  7. Mindset
  8. Grit
  9. The Subtle Art of Not Giving A Fuck

  1. The Four Agreements

Sustainable weight loss is founded upon consistent execution of the most basic actions regardless of how you feel.

The Four Agreements details a simple, yet powerful, personal code of conduct that every human should attempt to live by in their daily life to crush limiting beliefs and attain limitless freedom.

The foundational agreements shared in this book, if implemented to the best of your ability each day, will help to initiate a total transformation in your self-talk, thoughts, and belief systems, which we know directly influences the results you achieve.

2. The Code of The Extraordinary Mind

Not only is this one of the incredible books on mindset but it is my most gifted book of all time.

The Code of The Extraordinary Mind, written by Vishen Lakhiani, will absolutely disrupt your current way of thinking and make you question the origin of your beliefs and the so-called brules (bullshit rules) you currently follow.

Vishen walks you through a handful of incredibly powerful action steps to help you think for yourself so you can drastically improve the way you think, feel, look, and act to live a more fulfilling and inspiring life.

  1. The 12-Week Year

Sustainable weight loss requires some degree of structure to your eating habits, exercise routine, and how you care for your mindset and emotions. The 12-Week Year, by authors Brian Moran and Michael Lennington, provides a simple and relatable framework to help you best prioritize and organize the action steps necessary to feel, look, and be better in a 12-week period.

This model of thinning and goal-setting, which helps to better conceptualize and execute the appropriate actions steps to achieve sustainable weight loss serves as a foundation in our teaching in all that we do at The 5% Way.

atomic-habits
  1. Tiny Habits / Atomic Habits

There are hundreds of books on mindset and habits that exist but very few of them have left the impact that Atomic Habits has by James Clear. In Atomic Habits, author James Clear offers a proven, simple framework for upgrading, adding, and removing any habit in your life so you can get one percent better every single day.

This is one of our most talked-about books in The 12R Method to Sustainable Weight Loss, the online course component of The 5% Community, because of the profound impact it’s had on shaping mine and Coach Micheala’s very-own habits.

best-self-be-you-only-better

  1. You Are A Badass

This is one of the most informative, yet entertaining and hysterical books I have ever read. In “You Are A Badass,” author Jen Sincero helps you to not only identify some of the biggest limiting beliefs holding you back from achieving and attaining what you desire, but details precise and powerful action steps to help you get results immediately.

If you’ve tried to lose weight before – and keep it off – it’s likely you’ve encountered a barrage of expected and unexpected challenges. This is especially true when trying to achieve sustainable weight loss after having already lost the weight.

In her best-selling book, “Grit,” author Angela Duckworth, MacArthur Fellow and an associate professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, clearly defines what it means to possess grit and just how far and deep of a reach whether or not you possess grit has on all that you achieve in life.

Combining positive emotion and long-term perseverance are essential for attaining any audacious goal and this couldn’t be more true when it comes to the lifelong commitment to keeping the weight you work so hard to lose off for good.

  1. The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck

In “The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck,” author Mark Manson has created a masterpiece in helping us to detach from the opinions of others so we can live a more freeing and empowering life.
